MASL is also pleased to announce the location for the 2014 Spring Conference has been moved from the Millennium Hotel, St. Louis, to the St. Louis Union Station Hotel. While the Millennium offered many great amenities for members, the hotel's recently-announced renovation plans conflicted with conference plans, and MASL chose to change the venue.
MASL is thrilled to have the opportunity to hold a conference at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel. The Union Station offers an impressive, unique experience rich in Missouri history--an appropriate parallel as Missouri's school librarians look to the future.
Once the world's largest and busiest train station, the Union Station St. Louis serviced 22 railroads at the height of its day, the most of any station in the world at that time. The Station is very much a part of Missouri's history: the famous picture of President Harry S. Truman holding up the newspaper with the "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline was taken in its lobby.
Today the Union Station is a national historic landmark hotel that offers guests a AAA four-diamond experience, including numerous in-house dining and shopping options. As an added benefit, it is situated in a safe downtown location directly across from the newly-renovated St. Louis Public Library! (Click here to view a gallery of the library post-renovation.)
