2014 Spring Conference Location
Share |

MASL is also pleased to announce the location for the 2014 Spring Conference has been moved from the Millennium Hotel, St. Louis, to the St. Louis Union Station Hotel.  While the Millennium offered many great amenities for members, the hotel's recently-announced renovation plans conflicted with conference plans, and MASL chose to change the venue.

MASL is thrilled to have the opportunity to hold a conference at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel.  The Union Station offers an impressive, unique experience rich in Missouri history--an appropriate parallel as Missouri's school librarians look to the future.
St. Louis Union Station during WWII

Once the world's largest and busiest train station, the Union Station St. Louis serviced 22 railroads at the height of its day, the most of any station in the world at that time.  The Station is very much a part of Missouri's history: the famous picture of President Harry S. Truman holding up the newspaper with the "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline was taken in its lobby.

Today the Union Station is a national historic landmark hotel that offers guests a AAA four-diamond experience, including numerous in-house dining and shopping options.  As an added benefit, it is situated in a safe downtown location directly across from the newly-renovated St. Louis Public Library! (Click here to view a gallery of the library post-renovation.)

What does the Union Station offer guests?

The hotel offers options for those looking to book double beds...

...queen suites...

...and king rooms.

The bathrooms pair elegant decor with modern amenities so guests feel both comfortable and pampered.

The front desk provides you with a warm cookie upon check in.

Need to take a break in between workshops?  Kick back in style in the Grand Hall, formerly the waiting room of the original station.  Or...

...take advantage of the courtyard!  It's the perfect place to reflect on workshops or to catch up with colleagues.

Don't forget to visit the hotel's Whispering Arch, discovered when the station was built in the 1890s.

Energize your body while you energize your mind!  The hotel sports a new state-of-the-art 24 hour fitness center located on the first floor of the hotel.

The hotel's event spaces, like the Grand Ballroom, are stunning settings to showcase conference speakers and presenters.

Hungry?  The hotel features a number of dining options including the Station Grille, which serves up some of the best food in the city.
