Committees
Finance
Chair: Mernie Maestas, Boone Trail Elementary, Wentzville R-IV School District
Chair: Diana Gehrt, Congress Middle School, Park Hill School District
 
The Finance Committee shall have responsibility of preparing the annual budget for presentation to the Association in consultation with the First Vice-President/President Elect, general oversight of financial operations, and any other duties relating to financial and budgetary matters established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

Governance
Chair: Amy Hertzberg, Nevada Middle School, Nevada R-5
 
The Governance Committee shall have responsibility for reviewing the governing documents, making recommendations for amendments and revisions, updating the Policies and Procedures, and any other duties relating to Association governance established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

Legislative Advocacy
Chair: Lysha Thompson, Miller County R-3 Schools
 
The Committee shall have the responsibility for development and oversight of the legislative platform and any duties or responsibilities related to legislative advocacy established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

Nominations
Chair: Margaret Sullivan, Rockwood Summit High and Marquette High Schools, Rockwood School District
 
The Nominations Committee shall have responsibility for the nomination of elected officers and any other duties established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

Professional Education
Chair: Margaret Sullivan, Rockwood Summit High and Marquette High Schools, Rockwood School District
Chair: Curtis Clark, Harrisonville Middle School, Harrisonville R-IX School District
 
The Professional Education Committee shall have responsibility for the development and oversight of professional education programs and any other duties established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee. The AASL Affiliate Assembly Delegate, who serves as Co-Chair of the Professional Education Committee, shall assist with all materials related to Intellectual Freedom and challenged materials. The Second Vice-President, who serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Committee, shall have responsibility for the Fall Seminar.
  • Intellectual Freedom
    Curtis Clark, Harrisonville Middle School, Harrisonville R-IX School District

The Intellectual Freedom Committee (IFC) recommends such steps as may be necessary to safeguard the rights of library users, libraries, and librarians, in accordance with the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and the Library Bill of Rights as adopted by the ALA Council. The IFC works closely with the Office of Intellectual Freedom and with other units and officers of the Association in matters touching intellectual freedom and censorship.

The Fall Seminar Committee shall have the responsibility of planning and implementing the logistical, procedural and informational aspects of the Fall Seminar program, and any other duties relating to the Fall Seminar.


Public Relations
Chair:  Melissa Corey, Robidoux Middle School, St. Joseph School District
 
The Public Relations Committee shall have responsibility for the public relations and publicity program, and any other duties relating to public relations and publicity established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.
 
Epsilon Beta
Georganna Krumlinde, Troy Buchanan High School, Lincoln County R-3 School District
Jill Williams, McDonald County High School, McDonald County R-1

Epsilon Beta is a club for high school students interested in the library. Its official name is Episcpoi Tes Bibliothekes, "Keepers of the Library". State officers are elected at the annual meeting in the spring. They are: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and historian. Epsilon Beta is sponsored by the Missouri Association of School Librarians, which helps coordinate Epsilon Beta activities through a director, appointed annually.

New Members

Robin Reich, Grandview Senior High School, Grandview C-4 School District

The New Members Committee shall have responsibility for educating new members on the association's policy and procedure. In addition, the committee will be responsible for membership recruitment and retention, and any other duties relating to association membership.


Readers Awards
  • Gateway Readers Award
    Chair:  Shannon Grieshaber, Ft. Zumwalt West High School, Ft. Zumwalt School District

The Gateway Readers Award Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Gateway Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Mark Twain Readers
    Chair: Kirsten Shaw, Martin Warren Elementary School, Warrensburg R-6 School District

The Mark Twain Readers Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Mark Twain Readers Award and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Show Me Readers
    Chair: Debbie Bicket, Rose Acres Elementary, Pattonville School District

The Show Me Readers Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Show Me Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

  • Truman Readers Award
    Chair: Julie Midyett, North Middle School, Ft. Zumwalt School District

The Truman Readers Award Committee shall have responsibility for the coordination and administration of the Truman Readers Award, and any other duties relating to the award established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.


Scholarships, Grants and Awards
Chair:  Megan Chambers, Lee's Summit West High School, Lee's Summit R-7
 
The Scholarships, Grants and Recognition Committee shall have responsibility for administering the Association's program of Awards, Grants and Recognition as established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.

Site Selection
 
The Site Selection Committee shall have responsibility for reviewing past Spring Conference site location comments, determining location of Spring Conference for two years from current Spring Conference date. In addition, the Site Selection Committee shall have responsibility of negotiating contracts for event location and any other duties relating to the Spring Conference future location.

Spring Conference
Co-chair: Jennifer Millikan, St. Joseph's Academy
Co-chair: Carolyn Scaia, Lawson Elementary, Hazelwood School District
 
The Spring Conference Committee shall have responsibility for planning and overseeing the Annual Spring Conference and any other duties established in the Policies and Procedures of the Committee.
