Free online courses for teaching the new ICT Literacy GLEs/CLEs

Missouri's e-Learning for Educators Program was contracted to develop facilitated and self-paced online professional development to help Missouri educators become familiar with the new Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Literacy grade-level and course-level expectations. Course participants analyze and discuss the GLEs or CLEs, begin the process of identifying those that are already integrated in local curriculum and those that need to be added, and share integration and lesson plan ideas with other educators taking the course. School teams are encouraged to work together within a course to be sure the standards are addressed throughout the school.

Facilitated courses run seven weeks, with sessions focusing on the inquiry process, determining the nature and intent of information needed, accessing information efficiently and effectively, evaluating information critically and competently, using information effectively and creatively, practicing ethical, legal, and safe us of information and technology, and putting it all together. The facilitated course costs $125, and the course may be taken for two hours of graduate credit from participating universities for an additional cost of $100 per credit hour. The self-paced course contains the same materials, available online at no charge to participants.
